Week ahead: U.S. nonfarm payrolls, Global PMIs in the spotlight

(Sharecast News) - All eyes over the coming week would be on the U.S. non-farm payrolls report for March.

Consensus was that the data, due out Friday, would reveal a slowdown in the pace of hiring from February's pace of 275,000 to 198,000 in March.

Average hourly earnings growth was expected to pick up a bit, from 0.1% month-on-month to 0.3%.

Revisions to previous months' readings might also potentially move the dial with financial markets.

Nevertheless, should the consensus be proven right then the report would be consistent with a solid pace of economic growth.

Also due out across the week was a raft of purchasing managers' surveys from across the world.

First out would be the Caixin manufacturing sector PMI for China in March, on Monday, followed by the US ISM's factory PMI later that same day.

On Tuesday, S&P Global would publish euro area and UK factory PMIs.

Equivalent PMIs but for services in those same two regions would follow on Thursday.

UK house price surveys from Nationwide and Halifax were also due out, on Monday and Friday, respectively, alongside consumer credit and net lending figures on Tuesday.
