FTSE 100 movers: BT Group rallies; Barclays slumps

(Sharecast News) - London's FTSE 100 was down 0.5% at 7,473.78 in afternoon trade on Tuesday. BT Group was the standout gainer on the index after it joint ventures TNT Sports acquired rights to broadcast Premier League matches.

Equipment hire specialist Ashtead was weaker as it delivered flat second-quarter profits, but said demand in the US remained "robust".

Barclays slumped after the Qatar Investment Authority, the bank's second-largest shareholder, sold nearly half of its stake.

Asia-focused Prudential was in the red after Moody's cut its credit outlook on China to 'negative'.
