Wednesday preview: UK CPI, BoE's Bailey in focus

(Sharecast News) - Investors' focus in the middle of the week will be on consumer price data due out on either side of the Channel.

At 0600 BST, the Office for National Statistics is expected to announce that CPI growth slowed from the 3.4% year-on-year pace observed in February to 3.1% for last month.

Also due out on home shores are producer price figures covering March.

Across the Channel, at 0900 BST Eurostat is expected to announce that the annual rate of increase in headline CPI slowed from 2.6% for February to 2.4% in March.

The preliminary estimate for core CPI meanwhile was decline from 3.1% to 2.9%.

Worth noting, Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey is scheduled to deliver a speech at 1600 BST, followed by his opposite number at the European Central Bank, Christine Lagarde, at 1745 BST.
