FTSE 250 movers: Games Workshop hammered; Airlines fly lower
(Sharecast News) - The FTSE 250 was up 0.63% to 18,644.82 at 1415 BST.
Games Workshop Group reported a year-on-year fall in pre-tax profit for the three months to August 28, in line with expectations, as the company also increased its dividend.
The maker of Warhammer on Wednesday said core revenue rose to £106m from £98m. Licensing revenue fell to £3m against £5m a year ago and pre-tax profit decreased to £39m from £45m.
"We remain focused on sales growth and cost management," Games Workshop said in a statement.
A 30p-a-share dividend was also declared taking payouts in 2022/23 to £1.20 per share against 65p a share last year.
Budget airlines Wizz Air and easyJet were both lower as Russia announced a mobilisation of forces in a sign the war in Ukraine could escalate, prompting concerns over oil prices and higher costs for carriers. Cruise Line operator Carnival also fell on the news.
Housebuilders jumped amid reports that Friday's mini-Budget could include plans to cut stamp duty with Redrow joining peers in the FTSE 100.
