Thursday preview: US consumer confidence, UK Q4 GDP in the spotlight

(Sharecast News) - Investors' attention on Thursday will be on a raft of economic data releases on the other side of the Atlantic. Key among those will be the final results for the University of Michigan's consumer confidence survey for March at 1400 GMT.

They will be preceded at 1230 GMT by weekly jobless claims figures and a final estimate for fourth quarter gross domestic product growth.

Against that backdrop, at 0700 GMT the Office for National Statistics will release its own estimate for fourth quarter GDP, but in the UK.

Consensus is that the UK economy shrank at a 0.3% pace quarter-on-quarter.

Across the Channel, investors' attention will be trained on German unemployment and retail sales figures for March and February, respectively.

Also due out are euro area M3 money supply growth figures for February.
