Retirement calculator

Our easy-to-use retirement calculator lets you see how much income you could need in retirement. We’ll help you figure out how much you need to save to achieve the lifestyle you want.

The value of investments can go down as well as up, so you may not get back what you invest. This information is not a personal recommendation for any particular investment. If you are unsure about the suitability of an investment you should speak to an authorised financial adviser.

As a first step the retirement calculator assumes a basic cost of living amount. This includes a minimal amount required for travelling and transport, social and cultural activities and clothing. You can increase this cost to a more realistic figure that suits your lifestyle by using the plus key option (in increments of £1,000).

You can then use the tool to select additional activities you see yourself doing in retirement - each year. All costs are per person but you can increase this by using the plus key within the tile. Costs are approximate and are not tailored for individual circumstances (Calculations last updated September 2018).
