Wednesday preview: US rate decision, JD Wetherspoon in focus
(Sharecast News) - Investors' in the middle of the week would be squarely on the US Federal Reserve and any guidance that it might provide regarding the possibility of interest rate cuts in 2025. Nonetheless, no reduction in interest rates was anticipated for this time around.
On home shores, at 0830 GMT consultancy S&P Global would release its Purchasing Managers' Index for the construction sector.
It would be followed at 2301 GMT by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors' Housing Price Balance.
Over in the euro area, at 0600 GMT Germany's ministry of finance would publish factory orders data for March, whilst Eurostat would release euro area retail sales figures covering that same month.
In company news, JD Wetherspoon is set to update investors on third quarter trading.
The pub is "doing well", City analyst Michael Hewson says, if you look beyond recent changes to national insurance and minimum wages.
He estimated that those were adding £60m to the company's costs, or some £1,500 per pub per week.
