Wednesday preview: Global trade negotiations, Fed minutes in focus

(Sharecast News) - Investors' focus in the middle of the week will be on the ongoing trade negotiations between Washington and dozens of its trade partners. In particular, markets may prove sensitive to headlines around Beijing's reaction to the White House's latest move, announced just the day before, to go ahead and hike its trade levies against China again to 104%.

Against that backdrop, at 1800 GMT the US Federal Reserve was scheduled to release the minutes of its last policy meeting.

One hour before, the US Treasury would hold an auction of 10-year debt.

Overnight, the Reserve Bank of New Zealand was expected to announce a 25 basis point reduction in its short-term interest rates.
