Tuesday preview: US Fed minutes, Nvidia in the spotlight
(Sharecast News) - The economic calendar on Wednesday will be on the light side. Foremost on the release schedule will be the release of the minutes of the Federal Reserve's latest monetary policy meeting.
Across the Channel meanwhile, investors will be focused on German unemployment data due out at 0755 BST.
On home shores, Bank of England chief economist, Huw Pill, will deliver a speech 1230 BST.
Nvidia will be in traders' sights in the middle of the week, as the US semiconductor manufacturer publishes its first quarter earnings report.
The company has guided towards quarterly revenues of $43bn +/-2% and operating margins are expected to have slipped to between 70.6-71.0%.
Revenues remained "strong" but competition might erode margins further, City analyst Michael Hewson said.
Hewson also noted concern around Nvidia's Blackwell chip as a result of concern about the impact of trade tariffs.
"The entry of DeepSeek has also caused some concern given its claims that it can complete some AI tasks with chipsets that cost a fraction of Nvidia's."
