Tuesday preview: Iran-Israel, Fed's Powell, NATO summit in focus
(Sharecast News) - Investors' focus on Tuesday will be on geopolitics and whether or not the halt in fighting between Iran and Israel holds. Also in focus will be the NATO summit taking place in the Netherlands.
Against that backdrop, at 1500 BST the president of the US Federal Reserve, Jerome Powell, will deliver his semi-annual monetary policy report to Congress.
Earlier, at 1400 BST Bank of England Governor, Andrew Bailey, is due to deliver remarks.
At least another four top Fed officials are due to deliver speeches over the course of the afternoon.
Readings on US house prices will be released at 1300 BST.
In Germany, at 0800 BST the Ifo Institute will publish the results of its business confidence survey for the month of June.
On the corporate side of things, support services outfit Bunzl is scheduled to deliver a trading update for the second quarter.
UBS analyst Rory McKenzie said that he was anticipating a 1.5% decline in organic revenues in year-on-year terms due to ongoing product price deflation and volume weakness in North America.
Investors will also be on the lookout for any updated guidance, with the current Visible Alpha consensus for its full-year margins standing at 7.7%.
From a valuation standpoint, the shares were changing hands on 13 times their forward price-to-earnings ratio, against a typical range of 12-18 times.
