Tuesday preview: Factory PMIs, Sainsbury in focus
(Sharecast News) - The market spotlight during the first session of the third quarter will be on a raft of purchasing managers' surveys for factory sector activity in China, the UK, euro area and US during the month of June. In the UK, S&P Global will release its PMI survey results at 0830 BST.
They will be preceded by a reading on housing prices from mortgage lender Nationwide at 0600 BST.
Euro area CPI data will be forthcoming at 0900 BST
Stateside, the Institute for Supply Management will publish its manufacturing PMI results at 1400 BST.
An hour before, Labor will come out with its JOLTS labour market report for May.
Fed chief Jerome Powell, the BoE's Andrew Bailey and ECB President Christine Lagarde are all due to deliver remarks at 1330 BST.
On the corporate side of things, Sainsbury will release its first quarter numbers. City analyst Michael Hewson pointed to the most recent grocery sales figures from Kantar, saying they hinted at a strong quarter for the UK-s second largest supermarket.
However, there was a caveat. That might be as good as it got for a while.
