Thursday preview: US inflation, Geopolitics in the spotlight
(Sharecast News) - Thursday's session will bring with it more data on the inflation picture Stateside. At 1330 BST, the Department of Labor is scheduled to publish
US producer price data for the month of January.
Investors will be especially keen to try and gauge what inflation pressures might be in the pipeline following the hotter-than-expected US consumer price data released the day before.
Also due out at the same time are the latest weekly US unemployment figures.
In the background, the market spotlight is likely to be on everything having to do with Washington's announcement, the night before, that it was set to launch talks with Moscow aimed at reaching a peace in Ukraine.
Earlier, at 0700 BST the Office for National Statistics would publish GDP data covering the month of December.
Consensus was for a reading of 0.1% month-on-month.
Overnight, the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors was due to release its Housing Price Balance for January.
The latest German CPI data were due out before the European open.
