Thursday preview: US data, Serco Group in focus
(Sharecast News) - The market spotlight on Thursday will be on the release of a raft of economic reports in the US. Among them will be a revised reading for first quarter GDP growth, weekly jobless claims, and durable goods orders and pending home sales.
Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey is also due to deliver remarks, at 1100 BST.
Across the Channel, in Germany, at 0600 BST consultancy GfK will publish the results of its consumer confidence survey for Germany covering the month of July.
In the background, Serco Group will publish a pre-close update.
For Rory McKenzie at UBS, the first half results should be in line with estimates.
The analyst recommended watching out for any evidence as regards contract win momentum, signs of margin pressure and updated commentary regarding the outlook for government spending.
Indeed, he indicated that he had a 'sell' recommendation on the support services outfit's shares due to UBS's forecasts for weak contract awards outside of Defence.
That might result in below consensus profits across fiscal years 2026-28, he said.
