Playtech appoints sports media vet John Gleasure as new chair

(Sharecast News) - Gambling tech provider Playtech has appointed sports media veteran John Gleasure as its new non-executive chair, who will replace Brian Mattingley next month. Mattingley informed the board of his intention to step down in January after four years on the board, and will step down as chair after Playtech's annual general meeting in May.

Gleasure is currently a non-executive director at sports subscription group DAZN and digital publisher The Sporting News, where he previously served as executive chair.

He is the founder of digital sports media business Perform, and previously held leadership roles at Sky Sports, Hutchison 3G and Sony Pictures, with 30 years of experience across the sports, media and technology sectors.

"John's significant experience and knowledge will be a tremendous asset for Playtech as it continues its transformation into a predominantly pure-play B2B business. I look forward to giving him every support during this period of transition," said Mattingley in a statement.

The stock was down 0.7% at 738p by 1115 GMT.
