Anglo American appoints new technical director

(Sharecast News) - Anglo American has announced that Tom McClulley, the former head of its Peruvian division and a member of its executive leadership team, has been appointed as its new technical director. In a statement on Monday, the diversified mining giant said its current technical director of two years, Matt Daley, has decided to take up a senior executive role elsewhere.

McClulley, who joined Anglo in 2015, has served as CEO of Anglo American in Peru and group head of projects, and previously held senior roles at Newmont.

"I am delighted that Tom brings his decades-long experience across the extractives industry to take up the role of technical director, leading our global technical disciplines from discovery through to processing, as well as our critical safety, health and environment work," said chief executive Duncan Wanblad.

"Tom's outstanding technical and leadership capabilities position him well to support our operations in sustaining their much improved performance and identifying opportunities for further value enhancement."

McCulley will move into his new role with immediate effect but will work with Daley to over the coming months to ensure a smooth transition before he leaves later in the year.
