FTSE 250 movers: Dr Martens trips up; Cranswick on the menu
(Sharecast News) - FTSE 250 (MCX) 23,375.29 0.10%
Shares in Dr Martens tanked on Tuesday after the UK bootmaker forecast flat full-year revenue after a fall in third quarter sales, as it faced continuing challenges in the UK and US with cost-conscious consumers reluctant to pay full price for its iconic footwear.
Sales in the 13 weeks to December 28 were down 3.1% on a reported basis to £251m, the company said in a trading statement on Tuesday. In the year to date, revenue was down 1.8% on a reported basis to £573m.
Food producer Cranswick rose after it lifted its full-year profit outlook, hailing strong revenue growth in the third quarter.
In an update for the 13 weeks to 27 December 2025, the company said the strong growth, including the key Christmas period, reflected a continuation in the positive trading momentum seen in the first half, with all product categories ahead of the corresponding period in the prior year.
As a result, it now expects full-year adjusted pre-tax profit to be towards the upper end of current market expectations of between £211.3m and £216.0m.
Energean posted a dip in full-year earnings on Tuesday, despite production coming in at the top end of guidance, after oil prices tracked lower.
Updating on year-end trading, the FTSE 250 oil and gas producer - which is also listed in Tel Aviv - said production rose 12% year-on-year in the fourth quarter, averaging 162,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
It meant group average working interest production was 154,000 boed in the year to December end, at the upper end of guidance. Around 85% of that was gas.
Annual revenues dipped 4%, however, to $1.72bn, while adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, amortisation and exploration expenses were 4% lower at $1.1bn. Energean also flagged an estimated €300m non-cash impairment, relating to its non-operated Cassiopea asset.
