Wednesday preview: UK inflation data, Bunzl update
(Sharecast News) - Wednesday sees the release of the latest UK inflation data, along with a pre-closing trading statement from Bunzl and full-year results from Transact owner IntegraFin. As far as the UK inflation data is concerned, TD Securities expects inflation to continue easing in November with the headline measure coming in at 3.5% y/y, a touch above Bank of England projections (market: 3.5%; BoE: 3.4%; prior: 3.6%).
"Services will remain steady at 4.5% y/y (market/BoE: 4.5%; prior 4.5%), and will be prevented from easing further on the back of base effects in volatile components," it said. "However, an uptick in core goods prices to 1.6% y/y (prior: 1.5%) will bring core inflation to 3.5% y/y (market: 3.3%; prior: 3.4%), albeit with a rounding effect."
In Europe, preliminary results from Pepco and full-year numbers from ThyssenKrupp Nucera are due.
Across the pond, first-quarter earnings from chipmaker Micron and second-quarter earnings from food manufacturer General Mills - the owner of brands such as Cheerios, Betty Crocker, Nature Valley and Green Giant - will be eyed.
