Tuesday preview: Russia-Ukraine summit, US housing data in focus

(Sharecast News) - Investors' focus on Tuesday will be on the unexpected result of the previous day's meetings between the US and Ukrainian presidents together with multiple European leaders. According to German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, the meetings did not meet everyone's expectations, they exceeded them.

Among other potential results, reports indicated that a summit between Russian president, Vladimir Putin, and his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelenski was now been planned for within the next fortnight.

Against that backdrop, at 1230 BST the US Department of Commerce was scheduled to release a reading on housing starts covering the month of July.

In the euro area, at 0800 BST the European Central Bank would release current account figures for the euro area in June.

No major economic reports were due out in the UK.
