Thursday preview: Jackson Hole, Global PMIs in focus
(Sharecast News) - All eyes on Thursday will be on the start of the Jackson Hole Economic Symposium in the US. The annual gathering of central bankers and economists is often used by US rate-setters to broach changes in their long-term policy strategy.
The symposium will run until Saturday and will include a keynote speech from Federal Reserve chairman, Jerome Powell, on Friday.
Against that backdrop, on Thursday morning consultancy S&P Global would release its purchasing managers surveys for factory and services sector conditions in the UK, euro area.
The UK PMIs are due out at 0930 BST.
Also scheduled to be published, at 0600 BST, are public sector net borrowing data in the UK covering the month of July.
In the States, at 1330 BST investors would be watching for data on weekly jobless claims and factory sector conditions in the country's mid-Atlantic region.
