Friday preview: UK GDP, US consumer confidence in focus

(Sharecast News) - The market spotlight at the end of the week will swing back towards the UK. At 0600 BST, the Office for National Statistics will release gross domestic product growth data for July.

Consensus is that levels of activity in the UK economy were roughly flat during the month of July, amid a slowdown un industrial production.

Also due out, at 0830 BST, are the latest results from the Bank of England's Inflation Attitudes survey.

Those figures will be followed at 1400 BST by the preliminary results of the University of Michigan's consumer confidence survey for September.

On the other side of the Channel, final readings for consumer prices in Germany, France and Spain in August will be published throughout the morning.

Overnight, investors will be asked to digest Japanese industrial production numbers for July.
