FTSE 250 movers: MAM surges on upgrade; SSP slides on lower profit estimate

(Sharecast News) - FTSE 250 (MCX) 24,231.30 1.20%

Morgan Advanced Materials surged after RBC Capital Markets upgraded the shares to 'outperform' from 'sector perform'.

Seraphim Space Investment Trust jumped as the world's first listed SpaceTech investment company, said it had invested $15m for the C share portfolio of Xona Space Systems. The financing has resulted in a material increase in the fair value of SSIT's holding in the ordinary share portfolio, making Xona the Company's second largest portfolio holding.

Based on the closing sterling-dollar exchange rate, the valuation derived from the financing increases the fair value of the Company's existing holding by approximately £52.2m from the last published fair value as at 31 March 2026, equivalent to 22.0p per ordinary share (gross of any performance fee accrual). The company expects to substantially reflect this uplift in the portfolio valuation as at 30 September 2026.

Airport and rail food outlet operator SSP Group said it expected full-year operating profit to be slightly lower than expectations due to weaker passenger numbers in North America during the summer.

Ocado continued to surge after Wednesday's report that Australia's Coles is exploring the use of robots in its supermarkets to pick and pack grocery orders and is in early stage talks with the London-listed company about trialling the technology in one of its Melbourne stores.
