FTSE 250 movers: GBG tanks; Page soars on UBS upgrade

(Sharecast News) - FTSE 250 (MCX) 24,886.30 0.20%

Shares in Identity verification tech provider GBG tanked by 30% on Friday after the lowered revenue guidance as second‑quarter trading in its Americas Identity unit weakened, with higher‑than‑expected volume attrition at several key customers holding back growth.

The company now expects FY27 revenue‑growth guidance of 1-3%, down from mid‑single‑digit expectations and warned that, given normal sales‑cycle timing, the shortfall is unlikely to be recovered within the current financial year.

GBG said Americas chief revenue officer Tom Schutz would be leaving the business with chief operating officer James Gothard taking on interim responsibility for the unit.

Adjusted operating profit margin guidance was also set at around 21%, compared with a previous range of 21%-22%.

Despite the guidance cut, GBG said it would will proceed with the previously announced £6m investment in GBG Go, the company's platform that bundles more than 80 identity‑verification, fraud and "know your customer" modules into a single orchestration platform aimed at speeding up onboarding and tightening compliance.

Michael Page shot to the top of the FTSE 250 after an upgrade to 'buy' from 'neutral' at UBS, which lifted the price target to 235p from 180p. The news also boosted fellow recruitment firm Hays.
