FTSE 100 movers: Barratt rallies on results; Fresnillo loses its shine

(Sharecast News) - London's FTSE 100 was down 0.1% at 10,519.18 in afternoon trade on Wednesday. Barratt Redrow rallied after saying it has launched a new share buyback programme as part of a new £400m capital return in FY27, following a "solid performance" over the financial year to 28 June, with profits in line with market expectations.

Total home completions for the year came in at the upper end of guidance at 17,667, with further growth targeted for the current financial year.

Peer Persimmon also gained.

ICG advanced after the asset manager hailed a strong first quarter, with fee-earning assets under management up 3% in the quarter and 10% year-on-year to $88bn.

On the downside, precious metals miner Fresnillo lost its shine as gold prices fell back.

Convatec also retreated as the medical device group said the hunt for a new chief financial was underway following the exit of Fiona Ryder after just eight months in the role.

Ryder, who joined Convatec in early 2022 as group financial controller, was appointed as interim CFO in August 2025 before stepping into the permanent position in November. However, the company said she will now stand down as CFO but stay on until a successor has been appointed.
