Director dealings: Close Brothers Group chairman buys shares after 1H numbers

(Sharecast News) - The chairman of Close Brothers Group picked up some shares in the wake of the specialist financial services group's half-year results. On 19 March, Michael Biggs purchased 5,000 shares for approximately 288p each, for a total transaction amount of £14,420.00.

Close Brothers's share price had fallen sharply the day before, after reporting that it had fallen deep into red ink as a result of a £165m provision tied to motor finance commissions.

For the six months ending on 31 January, the firm said that it had incurred in a loss before tax of £103m.

For their part, in a research note published on 18 March analysts at ShoreCap told clients that

"We expect shares may come off a bit today on the weak NIM guidance but continue to view the overall risk/reward as favourable with our fair value of 450p implying 30% upside. BUY."
