Our view
Why we like this fund: This is a fairly concentrated fund that invests in companies across Asia. The team carries out fundamental research to identify companies seen as attractively priced relative to the quality of the underlying businesses. They are contrarian investors, which means they usually buy companies with depressed share prices, in anticipation that the strengths of the companies will be recognised in time, and that the share prices will rebound accordingly.
How to use the fund: Many Asian economies are growing at faster rates than more mature, developed markets, which should enhance the opportunity. However, Asian markets can be volatile and therefore we suggest that a long-term view - ten years plus - is taken. This fund should be seen as one of the riskier allocations within a diversified portfolio.
