Investment objective
The Fund aims to provide capital growth in excess of the FTSE World Series Europe ex UK (Gross Total Return) Index (after fees have been deducted) over a three to five year period by investing in equity and equity related securities of European companies, excluding the UK. The Fund is actively managed and invests at least 80% of its assets in equity and equity related securities of European companies, excluding the UK. The Fund applies a disciplined value investment approach, seeking to invest in a select portfolio of companies that the Investment Manager believes are significantly undervalued relative to their long-term earnings potential.

Our view

person-circle-filled

Why we like the fund: This is a concentrated fund investing in companies across Europe. The managers are ‘value’ investors, adopting a contrarian approach and often buying companies with depressed share prices; they have been investing on this basis since before the 2008 Global Financial Crisis. They are dedicated value investors, and Schroders has supported them during tough periods. Ultimately, this patience has rewarded investors. How to use the fund: This fund is a good choice for an investor with a long time horizon. It tends to come into its own over periods of five years or more. Over the short term, like most equity funds, it sometimes loses value, but tends to recover well. Because the fund takes a ‘value’ approach to investing, it would likely blend well with the Comgest Growth Europe ex UK strategy.
