Our view

Why we like the fund

This fund is managed by an experienced but diverse group of investors who apply a high conviction, growth focused investment approach. The fund holds 30-40 Continental European stocks with sustainably high earnings growth profiles, generating strong cash flow for reinvestment and with robust balance sheets to weather downturns.

The teams advantage comes from their stability as a group, long-term investing mindset (typically 5+ years holding periods) and their discipline in sticking to their investment philosophy and the characteristics they believe are important in companies. The Europe ex UK fund was launched more recently but the team have a long-term track record on their Pan European fund for which it shares very high overlap.

Investors should be aware that the fund comes with a degree of concentration risk in only holding 30-40 stocks and also will take significant sector positions typically heavily exposed to Tech and Healthcare and avoiding Banks and Energy.

How to use this fund

Can be held as a standalone investment assuming the investor has a suitable long-term time horizon and can accept large deviations in returns vs. the market that will come with this more concentrated fund. Alternatively if one wants to diversify this fund could be held alongside a value-biased strategy which is likely to benefit more when cyclical stocks and sectors (Energy and Financials) outperform.
