Why we like the fund

The Fund has an unconstrained total return mandate to invest in the Emerging Market debt universe. It has historically delivered via attractive yield, dynamic asset allocation and security selection. The investment universe is further divided into buckets and the allocation to the buckets are adjusted over time depending on the prevailing macroeconomic environment and bottom-up opportunities. The co-portfolio managers have significant industry experience, complementary skillsets and are supported by a team of analysts and the broader Principal research platform.

How to use this fund

Whilst the fund will have dynamic asset allocation and risk positioning in duration, credit and currencies, it will tend to always have a core allocation to generate attractive yield. It is a good complement to a developed market focused fixed income portfolio in a low yield environment. Note historically the fund tends to provide strong downside protection but may lag peers in strong risk-on markets.
