Investment objective

The objective of the fund is to deliver a greater total return than the IA Global Sector, after fees, over any five-year period. To meet the objective, the fund manager will invest at least 80% of the fund in global shares, with the remainder in cash, short-term deposits and UK government debt. Derivatives may be used by the fund for the purposes of efficient portfolio management and hedging.

Our view

The Rathbone Global Opportunities Fund is managed by James Thomson and aims to provide above average long term capital growth from a global portfolio.

Thomson runs a concentrated portfolio of ‘under the radar’ companies which have the potential to grow. He believes that ’sustainable growth and earning upgrades drive share prices higher’ and that ‘quality doesn’t come cheap’.
