Anglo Asian makes series of senior management appointments
(Sharecast News) - Anglo Asian Mining announced a series of senior management appointments on Friday, aimed at supporting its transition to a multi-asset, mid-tier copper-focused producer. The AIM-traded firm said the additions would bring significant technical expertise across mining, geology and engineering, as it accelerates development of its growing asset base in Azerbaijan.
Dominic O'Hara was named director of mining.
Anglo Asian said that with more than 15 years of global experience in both open pit and underground operations, O'Hara had previously held senior roles at Glencore and AngloGold Ashanti, and more recently worked in consultancy on operational efficiency and technical studies.
Sean Lapham was meanwhile joining as geology director.
A competent person across several key metals, Lapham would bring 13 years of experience in exploration, feasibility, and operational geology, having worked with SLR, Mining Plus, Lagata Private Equity and Glencore Copper.
Sergey Reznik had been appointed as senior mining engineer- mine planning, bringing more than 15 years of mine planning and design expertise from projects across North America, Europe, Central Asia and the Middle East.
He would support both current operations and future development projects.
The company also named Afgan Imamli and Fuad Sulkhayev as mine managers at the Demirli and Gedabek open pit mines, respectively, aimed at decentralising operational oversight.
"These stellar additions enhance our capabilities and bandwidth as we embark on our next phase of growth," said company vice-president Stephen Westhead.
"Sean will strengthen our resource modelling, Dominic brings considerable expertise to mining operations, and Sergey's mine planning capabilities will support the seamless delivery of production from our latest start-ups at Gilar and Demirli."
At 1505 BST, shares in Anglo Asian Mining were down 2.42%$ at 161p.
