Week ahead: US Fed, US CPI in focus

(Sharecast News) - Investors' focus over the coming week will be on the US central bank's policy meeting on Wednesday. Policymakers at the Federal Reserve are widely expected to keep rates on hold but there is great interest in how their economic projections may have shifted since the last time they met.

Against that backdrop, earlier that same day the Bureau of Labor Statistics is due to release a reading on consumer prices for May.

It will be followed the next day by another covering producer prices during that same month and the results of the University of Michigan's consumer confidence survey at the end of the week.

Worth noting too, multiple US Treasury debt auctions are scheduled for throughout the week.

Back in the UK, employment data for April are due out on Tuesday and for GDP on Wednesday.

Also to be published on Wednesday are Chinese CPI figures for May.

Come Friday, the market spotlight will be on the Bank of Japan's policy meeting.
