Week ahead: US, euro area inflation data in focus

(Sharecast News) - The coming holiday-shortened trading week will back-end loaded on both sides of the Atlantic in terms of economic data. Key for investors will be the inflation gauges for April contained in the US personal income and spending report due out on Friday.

To be published that same day area a reading on euro area consumer prices in May and another for consumer credit and money supply growth in the UK.

On home shores, Nationwide's house price survey for May, on Thursday, will also draw attention, as will a speech later in the session from BoE chief Andrew Bailey.

Monday will bring with it the IFO institute's closely followed gauge of business confidence index in Germany during the month of May.

Multiple US Treasury auctions and Fed speakers are scheduled for Tuesday.

UK and US financial markets will remain closed on Monday.

OPEC energy ministers will meet via video conference on 2 June.
