Week ahead: Global PMIs, Alphabet, Tesla in focus

(Sharecast News) - Investors' attention over the coming week will be divided between a raft of purchasing managers' surveys due out and the ongoing stream of corporate results in the States. On Wednesday, consultancy S&P Global is scheduled to publish preliminary purchasing managers' surveys for manufacturing and services in the euro area, UK and US during the month of July.

The night before, Alphabet and Tesla will update investors on their performance over the three months to June.

In particular, markets will be attention to how profit growth is holding up at the latter while in the case of Tesla everyone is looking for an update on its robotaxi initiative.

Also in focus will be the first look at second quarter gross domestic product growth in the US, courtesy of the Department of Commerce, on Thursday.

It will be followed on Friday by a reading on the PCE price deflator for July and the preliminary results of the University of Michigan's closely followed consumer confidence survey for the US.
