Wednesday preview: US CPI, Fedspeak in the spotlight

(Sharecast News) - Investors' focus in the middle of the week will be on the US inflation picture. At 1330 BST, the Department of Labor is expected to announce that the year-on-year rate of increase in the headline Consumer Price Index was unchanged in January from the month before at 2.9%.

Core CPI on the other hand is thought to have ticked lower by one tenth of a percentage point to 3.1%.

Overnight meanwhile, the People's Bank of China is scheduled to release money supply figures covering the month of January.

At least three top Fed officials are due to take to the podium throughout th afternoon.

The Monetary Policy Committee's Megan Greene is expected to do the same starting from 1500 BST.
