Tuesday preview: Alphabet, Tesla, US existing home sales in focus
(Sharecast News) - Investors' focus on Tuesday will be on the corporate space as US tech giant Alphabet and carmaker Tesla release their latest quarterly results. In the case of the former, the spotlight will be on the whether Google's parent company's results live up to the recent mania around artificial intelligence or not.
Tesla investors meanwhile will be on the lookout for any updates regarding the company's robotaxi initiative.
"Thus, this week is the start of a very big test for AI," said Kathleen Brook, research director at XTB.
"It is also a major test for the market. Can the market rally be sustained if AI starts to wobble? Google and Tesla earnings reports could give us the answer to this crucial question."
In terms of economic data, at 1400 BST the National Association of Realtors will release existing home sales figures for June in the US.
At the same time, the European Commission is due to release the preliminary results of its consumer confidence survey for the euro area in July.
