Smith & Nephew finance chief to move Stateside

(Sharecast News) - The chief financial officer of Smith & Nephew is to relocate to the US, the British medical devices firm said on Tuesday. John Rogers, who has held the role since April 2024, will be employed and based in America with immediate effect.

The firm said: "Given the significant amount of time the chief financial officer already spends in the US, and in recognition of the importance of the US market to the group's strategy and operations, John - with the support of the board - has decided to relocate there."

It added that the move would "further enhance executive leadership and oversight of operations in the region" as well as allowing closer collaboration with senior leaders in America.

Over half of Smith & Nephew's revenues come from the from US, and the country is expected to remain a key source of growth going forward.

However, Rogers will continue to spend a "significant portion" of his time at both the global head office in the UK as well as other global sites, Smith & Nephew added.

The blue chip currently employs around 17,000 people in 100 countries across its three business units: orthopaedics, sports medicine and wound management.

In 2024, annual trading profits came in at $1.05bn on sales of $5.81bn.

Rogers, who is British, has previously worked as chief financial officer for WPP and for J Sainsbury.
