LSEG announces new integrations with OpenAI
(Sharecast News) - London Stock Exchange Group moved to broaden its artificial intelligence footprint on Wednesday, by integrating its financial data and analytics directly into ChatGPT, enabling users with LSEG credentials to access market information and news within OpenAI's platform. The rollout, which starts the week of 8 December, would allow customers to draw on datasets from products such as Workspace and Financial Analytics without leaving the ChatGPT environment.
The initiative centred on a Model Context Protocol (MCP) connector that acts as a universal adapter for AI models, allowing ChatGPT to interact seamlessly with LSEG's licensed content.
The company said the integration was part of its 'LSEG Everywhere' strategy to distribute trusted data widely across AI platforms as financial companies accelerated adoption of generative AI tools capable of rapidly processing market information.
LSEG said it planned to introduce additional data categories and capabilities after the initial release.
Users would be able to query, analyse and interpret extensive historical and real-time datasets, enabling faster market insights and more sophisticated analysis.
Emily Prince, LSEG's group head of AI, said the connector brings together secure enterprise AI access and the "depth, breadth and quality" of the group's financial content.
The partnership also extended internally, with 4,000 LSEG employees set to receive access to ChatGPT Enterprise to streamline workflows and improve productivity.
LSEG said it would work with OpenAI's specialised teams to ensure full adoption of the latest AI models and tools, creating opportunities to develop advanced solutions for both staff and clients.
OpenAI chief revenue officer Ashley Kramer said embedding LSEG's data within ChatGPT would help users ask more complex financial questions and act "quickly with confidence".
At 1327 GMT, shares in London Stock Exchange Group were up 1.3% at 8.852p.
