Frontier IP celebrates funding award for portfolio firm Dekiln

(Sharecast News) - IP commercialisation specialists Frontier IP has announced that its portfolio company Dekiln has won £3m in funding after being named as one of the Royal Academy of Engineering's inaugural Green Future Fellows. Frontier IP, which holds a 24.8% stake in Dekiln, said the funds will be used to scale up the company's kiln-free tile technology to industrial-scale production, establishing a pilot manufacturing plant able to produce up to 1,000m2 of tiles a day.

Since raising £0.7m at a valuation of £2.69m in September 2024, Dekiln has completed its first commercial installation and moved into bigger premises.

Dekiln creates ceramic-like composite materials, using plant-derived binders with waste mineral powders, creating tiles with a recycled content of more than 95%, creating 99% less pollution emissions than traditional ceramic tile manufacturing.

The award was part of a programme to support engineers and innovators to scale solutions that cut emissions and improve resource efficiency.

"This substantial award from the country's leading backer of engineering and engineering expertise represents strong validation for Dekiln's unique technology. The company has already made its first commercial sales, and these funds will enable it to scale up at speed," said Frontier IP's chief executive Neill Crabb.

Frontier IP shares were down 2.5% at 15.12p by 0900 GMT.
