Friday preview: US housing starts, American Express results due

(Sharecast News) - Friday looked set to be a quiet end to a busy week, with no corporate or macroeconomic releases of note due in the UK. In the US, investors will turn their attention to housing starts and building permits data for September.

In corporate news, meanwhile, quarterly results are due from American Express, Schlumberger, Fifth Third Bancorp, Interpublic and Autoliv.

Earlier in the week, investors waded through a deluge of bank earnings as Bank of America, Morgan Stanley, Citi, Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan, Wells Fargo and Bank of New York Mellon all released quarterly numbers.
