Friday preview: Third-quarter results due from BA owner IAG
(Sharecast News) - On Friday, investors will eye the latest Halifax house price data, along with German trade figures and third-quarter results from British Airways and Iberia owner IAG. As far as IAG is concerned, UBS reckons the results will be ahead of consensus but said there is potential that the outlook weakens.
"We forecast 3Q revenues of €9,626m (3Q24: €9,329m, consensus €9,599m), with operating profit of €2,191m (3Q24: €2,013m, consensus €2,120m) and net profit of €1,550m (3Q24: €1,435m, cons €1,525m)," it said.
"Overall, the company is expected to have a good summer with N Atlantic weakness likely offset by Latam trading and a fuel tailwind benefit.
"We see ex fuel unit costs increasing by circa 3%.
"We think investor focus will be forward bookings in the UK given the upcoming autumn budget along with trends in the N and S Atlantic. We do not expect further capital returns at this stage."
Across the pond, it would normally have been time for the latest non-farm payrolls report, but that won't be happening due to the ongoing government shutdown. This will mark the second month in a row the payrolls report has not been released.
