Friday preview: Jackson Hole, UK consumer confidence in the spotlight

(Sharecast News) - Friday will bring with it the week's main risk event for financial markets. That will be the keynote speech from the head of the US Federal Reserve at the Jackson Hole Economic Symposium, from 1400 BST.

The venue is sometimes used by US policymakers to convey changes in their long-term thinking.

In particular, investors are keen for insights into just how transitory, or not, inflationary pressures stoked by US tariffs will be.

On home shores, just past midnight consultancy GfK will release the results of its consumer confidence survey covering the month of August.

Also overnight, markets will be digesting the latest CPI data due out in Japan, for the month of July this time around.

Across the Channel meanwhile, the spotlight will be on a reading on German GDP growth in the second quarter.
