Get in early for this year’s ISA
Important information - please keep in mind that the value of investments can go down as well as up, so you may get back less than you invest. Tax treatment depends on individual circumstances and all tax rules may change in the future. This information is not a personal recommendation for any particular investment. If you are unsure about the suitability of an investment you should speak to an authorised financial adviser.
Maximise your time in the market
Many investors like to make the most of their ISA allowance at the start of the tax year. This means their money is invested in the market for the longest possible time, which gives the greatest opportunity for their investments to benefit from potential market growth. Of course, it's important to remember that performance isn't guaranteed.
Our research* shows an ISA investor who invested their entire ISA allowance in the FTSE All-Share at the beginning of each tax year over the last ten years, would be over £12,000 better off than an investor who waited until the end of each tax year to invest.
See the effects for yourself
The illustration below looks at three hypothetical investors who put money in their ISAs at different times of the year. Even though they all contribute the same amount every year (the maximum allowance) over a ten-year period, the returns they make are very different. Just use the options below to see the effects for yourself:
