Tracker funds are generally a low cost way to invest. These passive funds are set up to mirror the performance of a chosen Index – such as the FTSE 100 – rather than be actively managed by a fund manager.
This means more of your money can be put to work in the market.
You pay this to the company that runs the tracker.
This covers the costs of everything the administrator of your investments offers you. At Fidelity, the service fee is typically at 0.35% of the value of your holdings (or less if you have more invested with us). This fee reduces to 0.20% if you have £250,000 or more with Fidelity Personal Investing. In addition, we won't charge an annual service fee on any assets above the level of £1,000,000.
From December 2015, the service fee will be a flat rate charge of no more than £45 (and £25 for Junior ISA or Junior SIPP), if the total value of your portfolio is less than £7,500. For full details please refer to our Doing business with Fidelity document.
Some trackers have two prices – the one you buy at (the offer price) and the one you sell at (the bid price). The result is effectively a transaction charge for investing in the fund. This is imposed by the company that manages the fund, not Fidelity Personal Investing. All Fidelity trackers do not have a bid-offer spread.
The value of investments can go down as well as up, so you may not get back what you invest. Investments in small and emerging markets can be more volatile than other overseas markets. These investments may be subject to currency fluctuations. Fidelity Personal Investing only provides information and guidance on products and services and does not give advice. If you are unsure of the suitability of an investment, please contact an authorised financial adviser.
Fidelity does not charge to switch, however please note that some fund managers will apply additional costs when buying or selling their funds.
