ShareNetwork is provided in association with Xest, the online trading system offered by Charles Stanley & Co Ltd. It uses CREST, the electronic share registration service, to register and settle share deals electronically, without the need for share certificates.
If you hold shares outside an ISA, you retain full ownership and direct control of your shares.

Charles Stanley & Co Ltd, an established London stockbroker, uses secure technology to deliver dynamic stock market information, and allow you to trade shares online. It also uses CREST with its own cash management service to achieve speed of settlement.
When your shares are held within a ShareNetwork ISA, Charles Stanley & Co Ltd will be the nominated account holder, as ISA plan manager.
CREST
As the Bank of England's own system, CREST has to meet stringent legal safeguards and all participants undergo a series of strict tests to ensure competency and security.
When you open a share dealing account, you are automatically registered with CREST.
As you'd expect, the money you pay in charges is shared between ourselves, Charles Stanley and CREST to pay for the provision of the service.
